Florida Guys Check In Here.
Agreed. I far prefer winter to summer in Florida. However, after spending the last 3 and a half years in Kansas, I'm just glad to be near the water again.

What's Your Grocery Bill Each Month?
For my wife and I, along with our two boys (ages 5 &1), I'd say we're right around $1000 per month.

Fishing El Dorado In The Morning
Herniated disc kept me from going. Grr.

How Do You Eat Your Bass?
I don't. LMB is catch and release only for me. Like some of the other guys here have said, there are too many other fish that taste better that I'd rather eat.

Fishing El Dorado In The Morning
I'm gonna bank fish El Dorado, KS in the morning. Not necessarily just for bass; I'd happily take crappie or bluegill if they are biting. However, I was warned that all of the decaying trees in the lake can make it somewhat toxic for the fish- is that true of the lake? Anyone have any tips to fish it?

Any Interest In A Wichita Area Get Together??
I'd be down for this. Actually the best way to do it is to have everyone meet at a park and bank fish. I organized all of the South Florida get togethers when I lived in West Palm Beach. We got almost 20 guys each time. A little different here, obviously.

Do You Hunt - If So, Check In
I'm getting my first bow next month with hopes to be ready by archery season. The much longer season combined with the lower amount (but still present) of bow hunters might offer a better experience.

Where To Fish And Camp In Kansas
I ended up not going out at all. Just too hot for me. I planned on getting up and heading to Marion County Lake this morning but obviously the thunderstorm erupting overhead at 4:30 convinced me to roll over and go back to sleep.

Ready For Dove Season?
That's just crazy.

Do You Hunt - If So, Check In
The problem I had last year hunting on public land in Kansas was other hunters constantly setting up around me even after I had flashed them with my flashlight to let them know where I was. I could tell a long story here but let me just state that last year's hunting was the single most frustrating experience in my life. I've sworn off public land (at least anywhere near Wichita) for gun season. I understand there are far less bow hunters here and I'm getting my first bow next month so that I can maybe avoid the fools with rifles in December. Grr.

Where To Fish And Camp In Kansas
I'm not afraid of the wind. More like utterly annoyed by it.

Where To Fish And Camp In Kansas
I'll just be bank fishing so I was considering Milford Lake or perhaps Elk River. Honestly, I'd almost given up fishing here because it is so much different than Florida. I can handle the heat, but I HATE this wind. Hate, hate, hate it. It never stops. Will probably head to Marion County Lake tomorrow to catch bluegills on ultralight tackle.

Do You Hunt - If So, Check In
I love to hunt white-tailed deer and Kansas has some big ones. It was maybe the one positive about leaving Florida and moving to Wichita. The deer in Florida are the size of my Labrador. I don't care for predator hunting but I'll happily hunt pheasant, squirrel, turkey and waterfowl. For me, I just really enjoy the experience of getting outdoors and taking part in the cycle.

Where To Fish And Camp In Kansas
Hey, jrsmith, where did you end up going? I also live in Wichita and am going fishing/camping this weekend.

Eating Snakehead
Andrew Zimmern did an episode of Bizarre Foods America that focused on the snakehead in Maryland. He swears by them. Check your listings and you can probably find a rerun and DVR it.

Best Fishing Magazine?
Florida Sportsman. Not exclusively fishing or freshwater fishing for that matter, but I love it. I kept my subscription active when we moved to Wichita. Keeps me in the loop at home.

Who Is Going To Win The Classic??
KVD. It's time.

How Many Miles Does Your Ride Have?
I just got a new 2012 F-150 Supercrew 4x4 over Labor Day. I'm sitting on around 7,000 miles.

Spouses
In our six years together, my wife has fished with me ONE time. Not that she doesn't like it, but there's other things she'd rather do and she's happy to let me be on the water by myself or with a buddy, which is what I prefer anyway. She's awesome.

What Do You Do For A Living?
I'm a graduate student focusing on Native American ethnohistory. Part of the reason I haven't been posting as often the last two years is that my research has taken up almost all of my fishing time. I'm in the process of deciding where I am going to do my doctoral work and we're hoping to have a decision made by mid-April so we can make they move this summer. Wherever we end up, I WILL be doing more fishing.

Buffs
Buffs are the way to go. Don't limit yourself to only using them fishing- I keep a spare one in my hiking backpack. Really came in handy at Yellowstone last summer.

Ot: Moving To Miami. Where To Live?
I can't stand Miami, or most of Dade County, for that matter. You'd be better off looking in one of the Broward County suburbs if you'd prefer not carrying a sidearm everywhere you go.

What Concert Have You Liked The Most?
I saw Barenaked Ladies a couple times when Steven Page was still with the band- once in '98 and again in 2001. Both shows were awesome. Best group I've ever seen live.

Lady Of The Lake
Nice! And, yeah, we'll be at the Classic.

Who's Coming To The Classic?
I'm going, and I know Deb and 520DVX are too. Looking forward to seeing them there. It'll be good seeing fellow bass fisherman at the Classic; I feel like I've been exiled to a fishless wonderland ever since we left Florida for Kansas.
