  1. That's ok. Last night he was standing in the hallway with no diaper on telling us he needed to go poo. Just at that moment, what appeared to be an 8 inch black slug crawled down his leg and landed on the floor. Thank goodness for hardwood.

Good looking dog. Good for you to adopt from a shelter.
  3. Check out www.kenrockwell.com He's one of the best photographers out there and does reviews on his site. He also pulls no punches on his reviews so you really know what you're getting. I have bought 2 cameras based on his recommedations. Extremely satisfied.
  4. Please tell me he released that fish.
  5. Yes, the guy jumping off the rock is a little...doughy. As far as the flights, they were fine except the flight from Maui to L.A. That one was rough as heck. I had three xanax and five glasses of wine to deal with it (not suggested). But it was an AWESOME time. It helped me deal with my fear of flying by showing me what I would have missed. Because of that we are planning a trip to England next year.
  6. Bribing him with M&Ms seems to be helping.
  7. You may have heard me complaining that I didn't want to go. Well, I went. And I LOVED it- flights be darned. Bassnblvd was right- I was being a weenie. Here are some pics from the trip, although they don't even begin to tell how awesome of a trip it was. In the airport in Orlando, to catch a flight to Atlanta, then to L.A., then to Maui: The view from our room in Ka'anapali: We visited some friends on Oahu. This is me jumping into Waimea Bay: Waikiki at sunset: Checking out the old fort in Lahaina: Some of the sights: I thought this dude looked cool: Some of the birds on Maui: I took this picture along the roadside in upcountry Maui: The wife and I at the luau: One lane bridge on the Road to Hana: waterfall: treking around in the bush: We were a little early but we still saw three humpback whales: Last night on the island: What an awesome trip. You MUST go.
  8. ....is going to kill me. We are almost there, but jeez this is enough to keep me from having any more. :'(
  9. So I was excited to finally get on the water since moving to Wichita. I decided to head to Cheney Reservoir since I had heard good things. Then I saw this: <sigh> I miss Florida.
  10. My wife and I recently left AT&T for Sprint so that we could make the jump to Android. We both have the EVO 4G and could not be happier. I love the android.
  11. Dude, moving to Puerto Rico means stepping up in fishing. There are some man made reservoirs there, seven in total, but your best bet is to invest in some saltwater tackle and chase the big fishies in the ocean.
  12. Soft plastics, specifically worms. Snore.
  13. Well, I put on my big boy pants and had an awesome time. Pics to come.
  14. I think it's a very sobering reflection the experience of Vietnam vets after the war. Unfortunately, the jingoistic refrain of the chorus kinda kept people from hearing the message of the song (myself included).
  15. This song has recently just been killing me. I had never really listened to it closely before, but last week in my Vietnam War class we listened to it together. The lyrics are just absolutely haunting. Powerful stuff.
  16. Daniel Snyder is a moron.

No ads here, just a large dose of AWESOME.
  18. ....and you wonder why I ever left Kentucky.

I know we've probably had this thread before, but is anyone else on twitter? I'm at http://twitter.com/raisingdad
  20. Who's coming over?
  21. Hey guys, I'm moving to Wichita next month. Can anyone recommend any guides in the area that can put me on some fish and teach me about the fishery?
  22. Alot of good it did me to post this. We're going now. Guess I should look for a fishing guide on Maui...
  23. And this evidence all points to the relative safety of passenger flights. Aircraft failure and especially terrorist activity is so small that it should hardly be considered as even happening in the total population of flights that occur each and every day. True that, but the likelihood of death in the event of an accident makes it worth considering. I'm just thinking, why chance it?
  24. Due to a lack of evidence, I'm not following any deities at the moment. However, there's plenty of evidence lately of aircraft failure and/or terrorist activity. Not sure I want to risk leaving my kid to live with the in-laws just so I can go on vacation. It's a risk/benefit equation for me. The risks outweigh the benefits of the trip. Wifey can't get that in her head. She wants to go sit on a beach, but we could do that here in Florida. Looks like I'm going to have to go now, and I HATE THAT. I could not be less interested or excited to go on this trip.
  25. I'm enjoying your comments and it turns out the wife hasn't informed her mom of our decision yet- we're still waiting on some Kansas information- I might get stuck with this after all.
