Hooking A Horny Toad

Featured Replies

I've been fishing the Horny Toads and Yum Money Frog lately and I was wondering about the hooks you guys use. I see a lot of peope are using 4/0 or 5/0 hooks, but I was wondering if I should use the double frog hooks that I have. Do any of you guys use these or do you recoomend I stick with a single hook?

I was shown it with a single hook and it hasn't failed me yet. The zoom toad hooks are just a single hook with a screw lock if that helps you out, seems like they are designed for a single hook.

I just use a 3/0 EWG Magna BPS hook.

I use a single screwlock hook. I have some doubles but find them difficult to rig straight.

I use the Horny Toad Hook and I put the hook bend between the legs and "skin hook" the point in the top of the body. That keeps the Toad from taking up hook bend space, allows the Toad to swing away from the hook when setting the hook, and allows for better hook-ups.

I've been using the Stanley double take hooks 4/0 and they work well on the Stanley ribbits

I use 3/0 to 4/0 VMC fast grips (single hook)

I have a good hook up ratio
