How to fix leaking hollow body frogs?

Featured Replies

I know this has been discussed a few times in the past but it is too hard to search for something like this I tried...

Got a few brand new spro popper frogs that leak right out of the package.I walk the dog with it 5-8 feet or so and the @#$% thing is already sinking. So does anybody know any good solutions to plug the holes or maybe some other way to fix them. I think I read a while back someone posted about plugging the hole completely then cutting a small slit near the front of the bait to let the air out or something of that nature?

Thanks for any help :)

That is why i stopped using the Spros and switched to the River 2 Sea 65s. They have a small plastic band that goes over the hook and presses up against the opening. Kind of like a trailer hook holder i guess. I have had no issues yet with my R2S frogs.

You can use silicone, but make sure their is space for it to compress and inflate.

mend it or gorilla glue the hole. Then cut a 1/4" slit down the top of the head lengthwise right between the eyes.

Ok thanks Bizz.Thought it was you who posted that before.

DW I got some R2S frogs and yes they are quite impressive! They don't make a popper though. The spro popper is quite an amazing bait after you figure out how to work it properly, but....it is a spro and most of them seem to take on water very badly. My first popper never had any issues until about 30 fish later it ripped in the front.

x2.  This is the best frog mod you can do.  The reason Spro frogs have the best hook up ratio is because of how easily they collapse.  That is why they fill it with water easier.

they shouldnt sink right out of the package though.... I would take em back and get new ones..

Right. I've had some good ones and bad ones. Can't take them back, ordered them, and the hassle and cost of shipping them back almost isn't even worth it
