  1. I have a pair that I love as well... I actually had the same reservations/comments.... ugly, dont want anything between my toes, wont hold up etc... Now I wish I could afford another pair... they feel like you are barefooted...
  2. I dont have a lot of experience on this, but I used to fish tournaments as a co-angler. Several of the guys I fished with would re-visit spots in the course of a tournament day... One guy in fact hit a spot in the morning, around noon, and then again on the way in... we caught fish there each time.....
  3. kicked me out too after hitting submit... I hit refresh and it said I was now entered.... hopefully thats right..
  4. Here are a few of mine... not really favorites, but pretty cool pics... Running to one more spot before dark last summer.. my wife with a flounder she caught in her kayak years ago when we lived at the beach... a big ol' bowfin, my wife hooked it and got scared because it was pulling her kayak up stream!! gave the rod to me , so I claimed it!! wish I could find the one of me with a citation speck trout... what makes it cool is that it was 14 degrees when I launched my kayak and 23 for the high... as you can imagine I am bundled up big time...
  5. I have a 7'6" MH extra fast taper rod... what applications would this be good for? It is a pretty nice rod, and I need to use it, just not sure what I should throw with it.... what would you use it for??
  6. I just ordered some with a 6/0 hook for 6" worms and bigger creature baits... many people make their own and smaller tackle makers usually have great quality..
  7. Wow - I'm anti-baitmonkey and I still would have had to buy at least $100 worth - perhaps more. If I didn't end up using them all, I could always turn them over for a profit! They seem like good, well made, effective baits and have a good reputation. Since I'm pretty frugal, I wouldn't pay $8 on up for them...but at $2.95 - you bet! Here's the perch-color Rattl'N Vibe that I got - great looking bait. Yes, too bad I live an hour away from the store... my wife might be going back and I plan to get her to stop in and get some more... they had that exact vibe as well.... just about everyone that walked through that section stopped and picked up a few.... might be gone by the time I or my wife make it back...
  8. this store had probably 200 or so on one display... all for 2.95... they had the vibes, suspending minnows, cranks, some topwater.... the guy working said they just put them out and they were flying off the shelves... it wasnt a clearance section...
  9. Anyone used any of these... they look pretty good, I like the smaller size with deeper diving depths... I was in Gander Mountain today and noticed a whole section of them every size and color for $2.95 each, I didnt know much about the lures but the looked good so I picked up a few... now looking on the internet seems that was a GREAT price as they run from 8-15 bucks everywhere else.... wish I would have gotten a few more.... any comments on them??
  10. keep an eye on some of the fishing forum classified sections and you can get all you want for around 10-12 bucks each shipped... thats cranks, pointers, gunfish, you name it... give em a try and you wont be going back... I actually sold all my cranks and bought almost all LCs to replace them.... I still have a few standbys in other brands... but not many...
  11. I had a similar experience a month or so ago... not as big of a fish..but about 5 or 6 pounder I would say... very very slow moving near the top of the water... and then I noticed white spots on the fish.... this is bound to be some disease...
  12. our water temps are still around 60 or so... I have had some luck on spinnerbaits... anyone else have tips for early morning fishing on cold mornings??
  13. Do the cold mornings affect the topwater bites? I am in Virginia and it has been down around 35 or so at night, but warming to mid 60s during the day. I am planning on going out early morning and wondering if the cold weather affects the topwater bite. Does it make it later in the day, or nonexistant? Do the fish wait for the air to warm up some to start feeding? Thanks for the tips...
  14. what should I look for on the spindle? Also, why would I need a new hub? Think someone would come to my house to look at it? I obviously cant take it anywhere....
  15. Headed to the lake today I noticed that my wheel was smoking... pulled over and the bearings were blown... I limped home and everything had fallen out or melted out, the only thing left was the wheel, hub, and nut on the end of the spindle.... I no absolutely nothing about trailers, wheels, etc, but I have repacked bearings before... I see I can get a kit for new bearings, does this have all I need? Also, what order do they go on the spindle? Anyone have a diagram of the parts. This is an older trailer,no brakes. Thanks for the help
  16. Yep, I went through these same feelings this year... got me pretty down for a while actually... I moved this past year from fishing smaller reservoirs <1000 acres and having some pretty good success to fishing larger lakes with totally different cover... I was used to fishing weeds, standing timber and lilly pads, and went to fishing steep banks and rock piles... took me a while but I am finally getting more confidence and actually caught two fish over 5 pounds in October... part of it is the time of year, but part of it just comes with time... practice, read all you can, talk to anyone that will talk back...it will get better..
  17. I looked at ordering some recently as I like the compact size of it, as opposed to a brush hog... let us know how they work....
  18. we are not going until later in the day so we will be mostly searching for this action again.... I will have every rod with me ready so I can try different things... I plan on having a rod with Sammy, Fluke, Spinnerbait, Rattle trap, swimbait, and maybe a crank or something else as well.... if they dont want any of that it wasnt meant to be!!!
  19. well I am going out again tomorrow and should be out at the same time, hopefully they will be doing the same thing and I can have another shot at it..... thanks for all the tips...
  20. thanks for the tips... I had a Sammy tied on earlier in the day and switched it out... probably would have been better... I threw a fluke weightless and they hit it some, just didnt eat it... needed trebbles!!
  21. I was out late yesterday and noticed several balls of shad early in the afternoon, nothing was hitting them they were just swimming around in several coves near the mouths... in the evening about when the sun was going down, something started nailing the shad, I believe it was bass and not stripers... they were everywhere and shad were flying everywhere....now it would happen for 30 seconds in one spot, then move to another spot.... I threw at several places and had a few hits but no hookups.. i was using a fluke and also a topwater popper... what would be a better lure to throw at these schools when this happens.... I was thinking perhaps a rattle trap, shallow running crank, or hard jerk bait, I think the fish are in such a frenzy they were just hitting into my bait, not eating it....suggestions??
  22. hey Hook Set.. got any good tips for Philpot... I have been and had a tough time, especially with the super clear water...
  23. My local Dicks Sporting Goods has a pretty good sale going on right now... all Senkos are $4.98 a pack, all Lucky Craft lures are 20% off and many Rapalas have been marked down 20% or more.... Also had some pretty good sales on line as well... just thought some of you might want to check your local ones and see if they have anything going on as well....
  24. first worm I ever caught a bass on... anyone know where I can get some? I would be willing to purchase some from someone if you have any extra?? any websites have them?
