Lake Springfield, Il

Featured Replies

Hey Guys, my bass club is having a tournament at Springfield this weekend. I've never been up there, so was looking for some tips. Maybe a starting spot? Thanks in advance for any help, Mike

Are you launching out of Lindsey Bridge? If you are there is a nice cove with lots of docks and brush piles just past the bridge (north part of bridge) on the west side. If you look at it on Google maps, the point is pointing toward the north, this point can be awesome fishing and goes way out. The point is also lined with cypress trees that like to hold fish. On the south side of the lake there are islands that people always seem to do well fishing also. Then there is always the "warm" water arm near the plant on the north end of the lake that has some good brush piles, also fish the sea walls.

If you have anymore questions feel free to ask.

Well we had a rough day. 12 lb. Won it. I ended up without a keeper. Guy that won it was pitching a jig to sea walls.

The lake is hit or miss... Did you catch any off that point?

MY name is Alex Ellerbrock. I am 15 years old and a member of Illinois Jr.Bassmasters as well as my high school program.I won a Jr.Bassmaster tournament this year on Lake Springfeild with 10.81lbs which solidified my Angler of the Year title for my club. I was using a small 3/16 screw lock shakey head which was black. My worm was a 6" Zoom Finnesse Worm in Junebug. I fished around bridges with heavy rock. I found that under the bridges in about 7-9 feet of water I caught a 4.78lb Largmouth.
