Alright guys I'm fishing this small lake/ big pond here in Wisconsin, it's pretty shallow I think it gets 7 ft at the deepest spot I've been. The bottom is completely moss covered and some spots on the pond there is moss on the top too. I fished it a couple years ago in early June right before spawn and the killed topwater, it's a lot hotter here this time around and the fish are just to finicky for that now. I've tried alot of different lures and plastics and I just keep reeling in a hand full of moss. Any tips on what to throw, That will stay out of the moss and is still a finesse bait?

can't go wrong throwing a weightless senko, if you're having trouble with the moss just texas rig it.

When I'm fishing a senko on a tough day I typically like to make really long casts and strip some line out so it falls very naturally without drag, this gives the senko a chance to fall and wiggle like it was intended for. Let it soak for a little, take some slack in and raise the rod tip slightly checking for any weight, if not raise your rod tip up again and let it fall back down. Cast and repeat. Watch your line, sometimes youll see it taking off sideways, reel in the slack and set the hook!

a pond i used to frequent had a real bad problem with algae one year on the bottom and floating on top. a weightless texas rigged senko did work very well, other t-rigged weightless plastics will work too. unfortunately not much you can do with almost any bait about dragging algae back in and having to pick it off your lure. sometimes you will catch a fish and reel it in through the algae and lose all the fun of the fight as its like reeling in dead weight. also, a white spinnerbait in the clear sections has worked well for me too. i try to fish parallel to any algae patches as fish hide under them for shade.

also, try going early in the morning or in the evening a little before dark when it has cooled off some. seems like theyre more active during those times.

Suggestions:

Early AM - Buzzbait or other topwater

AM - Carolina rig or MOJO rig or Drop Shot (Keeping bait out of the bottom slop)

As Day Progresses - Crankbaits and spinnerbaits and Chatterbaits

PM - Back to topwaters

Use different plastics. Senkos, trick worms, Swamp Crawlers, Robo Worms, finesse worms, Rage Tail products (all are very good) and smear them with Mega Strike and dip one end of the plastics in JJ's Magic yellow.

Rig the plastics wacky, too.

I hate removing the slop off the baits and weights but if you have to, you have to.

One more suggestion I just thought of...fish the plastics Texas or Wacky rigged without any weight so it floats to the bottom very s-l-o-w-l-y.

Snap the bait as it falls a few times and then reel it in to give the bass another chance to hit it on the retrieve.

Thanks guys really helped me out, slayed them the last two days. T-riged senko was the only thing I could keep out of the moss long enough to present to the bass.

I would also throw small swim bait rigged weedless with lightly weighted hook.
