Newfound Lake Bristol, Nh (From Shore)

Featured Replies

My wife is bringing her summer camp kids to Wellington Beach on Newfound next Thursday the 26th. I have the day off and was thinking about going up with her.

Just curious if I should bother to bring my fishing gear? Are there any good docks or banks to fish from near Wellington State Park? If so what should I try to throw and what can I expect to catch?

Thank you!

All smallies. Throw tubes and drop shots. You'll find a place to wet a line. Watch your depths, because alot of spots there are 40 feet deep, just a few feet from shore.

Great, so I'll bring a drop shot rig with me and give it a try. What depth should I target the smallies at? I looked at google maps and it looks like there is a dock right at the launch so I'll try there if there aren't too many boats going in and out.

Thanks Shane!

You don't want to be casting any shallower than 15 feet this time of year. Ideally you'd wanna be more in the 20-25 range or deeper. I don't know how deep the water is where the dock is but definitely stay deep. With the recent heat the smallies are loving the deep water. (On winni at least)

Yeah, that sounds 'bout right. Good luck!

Newfound is tough in the middle of summer, even from a boat. I'd predict you will get skunked but if not you might catch a real good fish.
