Jointed Jitterbug, Any good?

Featured Replies

I have never tryed this version of the jitterbug but everytime I go to dick's it taunts me. Anyone have any luck with the jointed jitterbug? And what color do you find works the best overall?

The Jitterbug has been my favorite topwater for about 10 years now. I use black only, so I don't know what colors work best, but I feel confident that more colors wouldn't increase my catch.

I also use both regular and jointed and haven't noticed any significant difference between the two as far as number of strikes.

I have a few but don't use them that often... I have a friend who fishes them successfully when it gets dark...  not sure if that helped?

I have used both and they will catch fish. I do like the BIGGER jitterbug better. I fish them at night all the time and into the wee hours of the morning. They will catch Big bass. Use any color as long as it is BLACK ! :):o:)

Darn right they are good, for not only bass but pike too. The frog color has been my most consistant producer. Black is good anytime too but the only way to go at night. A good trick in rivers for smallies is to crawl it against the current, then open your bail and let it float back downstream. Then bring it back through the same area, again and again. Big smallies will CRUSH it.

But one thing, change the hooks that come on the jitter bug they are junk! I replace mine with VMC hooks of the same size. They are easy to change! :)

I second that. All arbogast lures have crummy hooks.

I like to use the frog colored jointed jitterbug during the day and black at night.  It is my best night time lure.  Though, like everyone said, I would change the hooks.

Im with the 2 other fella's, i use jointed frog day and night and catch a lot of bass, i like the very slight change in action with the jointed, my dad loves the non jointed black and i seem to out fish him with my jointed frog, safest bet, get a few jointed frog pattern jitterbugs and non jointed black jitters  ;D

Not impressed with the Jitterbug, they keep floating to the surface!  I put on about 6 big splitshots on the line and NOW I'm getting some depth.  Yeah!

Not really.

Hmm some great info here thanks :). Although what color do you prefer in the morning? Black? Or the frog pattern?
