Rods are 6'10"MHF. $130 marked down to $50. Here is the kicker. They say Field & Stream Shimano on the rod. Anyone familiar with them? A friend is going to look at them, but has no experience with this particular model, faik. I'm tempted to buy one just because it says Shimano on it, because we all know how good Shimano products normally are! :)

Thanks.

is it a rod only or combo? the DSG by me often had F&S Tec Spec rods paired with Shimano Sedona's or Symitre's I think they were for that original price you mentioned.

If it's the Field & Stream Tec Spec rod I have one and it's a very good rod. Mine is 6'8" M XF and it is an excellent rod for the money.

Not the Tec Spec rod. Not a combo. Sorry, but forgot to mention it is a casting rod. My friend just text me and said he didn't like the rod. Too many problems with the construction. Afraid I didn't look at more than the price and rod rating. My mistake. No doubt I will have a chance later to see what he is talking about. A relief actually because I am looking at a couple other rods.

Looking at the Fenwick River Runner 2-pc 7'2" 4-8, 1/32-5/16 rod for panfishing, and another casting rod for bass. Maybe a Recon, Powell or Pinnacle.

I bought that rod the first year they came out. Haven't fished it much because I don't get out often and have others I am trying out. I also like the looks of their new one, the Tec Spec Elite. Maybe I am taken in by their color. :)

I have a first year Tec Spec as well my Citica is on it right now it was a pretty good rod still is but I broke the top 6" or so off it it was the "spinnerbait" model. The tip broke from being closed in the car door not from fishing it hard.

Wait, so it was just a rod, not a combo? Was there more than one? There shouldn't be a Field and Stream/Shimano rod, only the combo. I'm thinking it might have been discounted so deeply because there was a reel and it went missing?

Then 2 reels went missing because there are 2 rods at that price. I'll stop back tomorrow and double check. Maybe it said something else, but my mind saw 'Shimano'.

Hard to go wrong for 50 bucks, I own a couple of $55 rods I really like a lot. As far as Shimano, one of my most favorite rods is a 4 year old clarus, one of my most disliked rods is a Shimano blue water tallus that has done nothing but collect dust for the past couple of years.
