Florida Airboat Captain Charged With Unlawful Feeding Of Gator...

Featured Replies

That airboat captain, Wallace Weatherholt, who lost his hand feeding a gator, was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor. Rule is feeding gators is illegal, and those who feed an alligator face a second-degree misdemeanor, with a fine of up to $500 and possible jail time. According to a family taking the tour, Weatherholt hung a fish over the side of the boat and had his hand just above the water when the alligator bit his hand off just above the wrist!

ha ha !! probably still would have lost his hand !!! lol.

Wow, you would think they would give him a break since he lost his hand, but it is the law.

Yeah just a little salt in the wound

Feeding gators turnd them into dangerous critters. You just might get bit retrieving a bass because of someone else's foolhardiness.

Feeding any wildlife is wrong and does more damage then one would think.

When a critter like a gator learns to associate humans with food no good can come from it. I remember a couple in the poconos who were feeding a bear. They even coaxed it into their house by leaving a trail of sticky buns. They video taped the bear entering the home and accidentally knocking a picture off the wall and getting scared and running out of the home. When PA game commission wardens saw the tape they arrested the couple, trapped and tagged several bears in the area and relocated them to other parts of the state. They also said that if any of the tagged bears showed back up in the area they would have to be killed. Sometimes people are the stupid animals.

Apparently he got more than a slap on the wrist!!!! Am I right? Sorry, couldn't resist.
