Thinking About Hitting Winni Saturday...

Featured Replies

i have only fished there a couple times and never out of my boat. we have a good map and would like to avoid getting rocked by pleasure boaters or destroying the lower unit. should i hit lees mill or winter harbor? thanks in advance.---tom

I fish out of Lees mills and have pretty good luck. Haven't tried winter harbor so can't help you there. If you go in at Lees head out to greens basin and between. Lots of rocks by shore and most are not marked so be careful. You can also head over to states landing area and fish off to the left side of the bay. Big rocks over there.......

C'mon, man, it's all pleasure boaters, all the time, especially on the weekends on that lake. Oh, and not to mention the 5000 fishing boats out there at any given time. Good luck! I do have a friend who has launched out of Lee's a couple times, and has caught numbers up into the 70's, but no size.

Lees is your best bet for avoiding the traffic. Get out early also. Winter harbor gets really busy during the late morning with tubers, skiers, etc. The pleasure boaters (myself included on non fishing days) will be out enjoying the water as early as possible. Weekends are short!!! Smallies are still deep and I've been catching all my largemouth in 10-15 feet also. Thats not to say there aren't fish shallow, but I love fishing deep water and always fish my strengths. Plus the fish are better quality. Good luck
