Live in Highland, Il. So far have only bass fished Highland Silver Lake. Will eventually get to others. The lake is only 4 miles from my house ! Makes it rough to go somewhere else!! Especially with the price of gas. Anyone else in the area???

Hey, another Highland guy here. Welcome!

irnwrkr : Thank You for the welcome! You said another Highland guy here, are you the other one?

Welcome Skunked again, Im not a highland fisherman, from bunker hill and currently going to school in carbondale. Youve got a lot of good bassin opportunities in your area, Silver is good, if you or a buddy has a boat, Carlyle might be worth the trip.

Was at carlyle today, took my daughter for white bass. She got her first one. She was quite excited. Without giving away your spots, where do you recommend to start for largemouth? I do have a boat.

Looks like you have a mini KVD in the works!! I have a buddy that really gets into the white bass there, im hoping to get on the water with him soon. Its been a while since Ive fished there, but Id probably throw deep and mid diving crankbaits on rip rap near deeper water (kinda hard to find in that lake) early and late in the day. use a deep diver that can bounce off the rocks without getting hung up. Mid day, try texas rigs and jigs out off main lake points. Also, maybe try a buzzbait near shore at first light and then at sundown on sharp main lake points.

bankbeater89: Was out at carlyle last wednesday with my dad, managed to find deep water off of riprap! By the rental units around hazlet. real good dropoffs there. Caught a 16" largemouth, two channels, and a white bass there. All on a small crankbait that I found. Got snagged on it! Will have to try the points next time.
