Lew's Tournament Sl Micro Crankbait Rod

Featured Replies

Looking to get this rod but would like to know what everyone thinks about it. I have a Quantum Tour KVD 7' 2" MH that is not working very well for throwing smaller crankbaits like the kvd 1.5 and I want a Medium action rod. I have 3 Lews baitcast and love them but have not tried their rods. Has the Lew Tournament SL Micro Crankbait rod held up and is it a great crankbait rod?

Thanks!

I have the SL Micro 7 foot M crankin rod. It's a great rod and for the price you can't beat it. It's fiberglass graphite composite which I prefer over all fiberglass because I think it gives a good combination of flex, feel, and backbone. The micro guides give you greater casting distance as well as enhanced sensitivity. You shouldn't have a problem throwing the 1.5 at all. Only downside is it doesn't have a hookkeeper, but that didn't stop me from buying it. Hope this helps.

When rods don't have a hook keeper, I just hook one of the trebles onto the frame behind the last line guide (the stripper guide) closest to the handle. I figure the guides are wrapped onto the blank the same way as a hook keeper would be too, so how can it hurt?? I make sure the hook is on the frame only and NOT through the ring insert on the guide. That is a big no no. But if you hook it to the frame part only and don't crank it down tight as a drum, it shouldn't hurt a thing. It never has for me and I've done it for years on a lot of rods.
