good spot or bad ???

Featured Replies

found this great spot at my local lake and I want to know if it is a good one.

it is a point and it has a dropoff on the right side of it and at the tip fo it  shallow and sandy with just a little bit of vegitation.

do you guies know if the spot is good and if so would the dropoff be good for spring or would the shallow sandy top of the point be good. the water is clear and it is in socal.

what lures would be good and what presentation would work.

Im fishing from shore.

Thanks and god bless!!! :):o:)

The only way you'll find out is if you fish the spot!

Sounds like a good spot! I would try some jigs.

The access to deep water on a point is always good. You can try crankbaits that dive a little deeper to churn up the bottom. Jigs, Texas rigs, and Carolins rigs would also be good choices. The grass also makes it a good spot.

I'm a shore fisherman too. The spot you describe sounds like it would be great during the spawn. Sounds like a sand flat. Flats are great. Baitfish will move in to the shallow, clear and calm water and bass will treat that sand flat just like a feeding ground, b/c thats what it is. What little vegetation and cover there is, i'd start there. Match the baitfish as best you can. If it be a spinnerbait, crank or trap... just try to get it in the size of the baitfish. If you have to trim some spinnerbait skirts, trim 'em. I'd cast down the bank, about 15 feet out.. and run the bait parallel to the bank. Keep an eye out for sand on banks, some of the best fishing I've ever had has been on sandy banks.
