The "why?" Stage

Recommended Posts

My 3 year old is in what I'm calling the why? Stage. How long does this last lol. Every this is followed by "why daddy?" Last night I had to brake for a deer in the road and it spawned all kids of why? Why do deer move at night, why do deer live in the woods, why do coyotes eat deer, what do deer eat, what do coyotes eat, why do they eat mice, what do mice eat. It went on and on and on for 30 minutes on the way home from walmart. Even fishing today why do the fish like the rocks why do they eat worms why why why. How long do they stay like this I'm afraid this is one of them long term stages not that it's a bad one other then constantly explaining how and why everything works.

I'm almost 27 and still in the why stage. I still have a year or so until my girl enter that stage. Just continue to be patient with his curiosity or if you want to throw him for a loop ask what he thinks instead.

Be thankful for every day of the "why stage". When they stop asking, they either think they are smarter than you, or they don't want to hear the answer. When that stage comes around you'll realize how simple life was when you had to get up in the middle of the night to soothe a cranky baby, or to change a messy diaper.

You can forever establish yourself as the "answer man" if you take advantage of this opportunity. I have to say his response is priceless. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Every day he does something new that I haven't seen or heard sense iv been gone. Tonight he laid down on the couch and just like the wife always says he flopped his feet on my lap and demanded I rub his feet lol. He's also picked up some Uhm colorful language I had a talk with his mother about let's say it rhymes with that other trucker.

I would cut that out quick. My brother in law thinks its funny to teach my kid to say certain things. Yesterday he told my mother while driving in the car to ” go B go”. That ended really fast and if I ever catch him teaching my son those words again I'm going to teach him how to apply the sleeper hold.

My son is 5 and in the "daddy let me show you something " stage. We just got through the why stage last year. It drove me nuts but being as I only have him 40% of the year, I welcome all the jabber.

After having him for the week I'm Kinda ready for a break. 5 minutes after I drop him off I'm calling to talk to him on the 2.5 hour car ride. My exwife and I have facetime on our Iphones and its a free call so we jabber all the way back.

Jacob is still in the legos are life stage but has been begging me to go fishing and cast our poles in the front yard all the time. Little turd is getting really good.

I'm definitely nipping the swearing I told the wife last night on our way home from my mothers I'll be damned if my kids grow up to be disrespectful little *** like most kids these days swearing and telling people off thinking they deserve everything.

He's in the "show you something stage" as well usually it's to come look at his poop before he flushes it lol. We can't go to walmart with out him saying he wants to show me his jeep and camo for deer hunting. He thinks he's getting another power wheels and new camo for hunting.

He's picking up reading the water to from the 2 times we went this week. Yesterday he kept moving his bobber to the rock pile right next to the bank because we caught 4 sunfish from there the first day. He was working up and down the bank flipping pretty much. He would grab the line pull it out of the water walk around till he seen a big rock pile or log and flip his worm and bobber in there a few timed then repeat as he walked down the bank. He caught 7 sunfish and a goby this way all on his own.

I got my son a trigger cast reel. The spin cast were harder for him. He ends up casting it 30 yards perfect in front of him or 30 behind him. All or none, no happy medium.

I am thinking about putting a 3" swim bait weightless on his rod. Watch the fishing reports for Jacobs 5 pound monster lol

Noah can't quite cast yet he's the same it's either all or nothing he has a tendency to spin for some reason an gets all tangled up in it. I was shocked to see him flipping yesterday. He was asking for some of my crankbaits yesterday.

His other new thing is " I gotta tell you something"

Once they get past the "thinking they know it all" stage, they'll realize how smart you are and go back to asking questions. ;)

my neice came and visited us this summer and stayed for 2 weeks. she is 3 going on 4 i think. She would come ask me a ton of questions non-stop random and back to back to back to back etc...and i answered everyone of them even though it was kind of annoying after a few minutes lol
