The lakes look higher than ever right now. Since Im not going on the road Ill fish in the community pond since its the safest route. Anyone planning to do any fishing? What baits do you think would work well today? I hope everyone is safe, unflooded and with power

flukes, frogs, chugbug. i personally fish extra close to the shoreline when the water raises like this. Grubs, bugs, ants and whatever else is living in the dirt get flooded out, which in turn bring minnows baitfish, panfish to feed on them which bring Bass to feed on the fish. I will be definitely be wetting a line from shore somewhere this afternoon/ sunset.

I would love to sneak out this afternoon, however the weather is worse today than it was yesterday, go figure. As far as fishing goes I am going out on Saturday. Unfortunately, I think Issac is dumping so much water that the glades water level will be really high. Does any one have any thoughts on that?

Fish areas where water level is not an issue, ie canals with high banks. There are several areas in the glades like this

So far not much luck, caught a 2lb bass on my spinning outfit...it was actually decent because it was pulling drag out. 4 inch yum dinger

Tried a spinner bait, wake bait, swim jig, sexy dawg, umbrella rig(caught one yesterday in between squalls)

Evrgladesbasser which area would you consider that has high banks and containment? The point you make is right on the money and critical to success right now in the glades IMO.

Holeylands is always a safe bet. The canal that heads west has the highest banks that I know of. I have never seen the water breach the banks there, it would have to go another 6 or 7 feet to have a chance. I have caught several 6+lb fish out there this year.

This evening I caught about 10 or so, they are almost at the doorstep

hopefully tomorrow is the same because the roads are so flooded I cant go anywhere

Chug bug, shad rap and 7.5 in tequila shad did the trick tonight.

I'm over in Jax and I fished my backyard pond when it was raining lightly and i caught a 2.10lb on a spinner bait. I was only fishing for about 25 mins though

I was crushing em this morning on a pointer. Was getting hit almost every cast at first. I was fishing near a culvert that had water moving through it. Caught 4 peacock, ~15LMB and one snakehead in about 45minutes.

After the first dozen fish, I went and got the GoPro. Got a few of them on video...if I get some time, I'll edit/post them up later.

Soft plastic frogs and spooks. Run them at the edge. The fish will be using the high water on the banks of the canals to search for food. Good luck, I will be out getting them as well. Snakeheads should be out and about.

OK...so I uploaded a couple of vids from this morning. Not exactly Spielberg's work, but I got a few fish on video. In these two videos you can actually see the bass hit the jerkbait under water...pretty cool.

My canal was dead yesterday, it hasn't been real good the last couple of years, prior to that it was killer, don't know why. Interesting the water level is pretty average despite all the rain. Fished one of my ponds, again it was dead and the water level is about 3-4 over the banks, I could cast from my back porch.

The snapper were in yesterday, I do not fish for them, unless I can get a cubera, but the crowds were huge.

The water will be muddied up. I have a lot of success on blue/black jigs and soft plastic worms or lizards with chartreuse tail after big rains. I'm gonna try to focus on points and other shallow areas of the lake that have been really wind blown as many times baitfish will be pushed into these places from the excessive wind.
