All Star And Smoke Rods

Featured Replies

welp.. let my brother use my verdict(shakeyhead rod) for a pond. it at least made its way back to me, in 2 pieces.. so the new Academy opened today, i have an old all star rod, american made, my pitchen stick, great rod. I have never noticed them again untill Academy, they seem outside of the ethos, there main rod they sell, They have like 7 difrant models. I am seriously liking them. I was thinking of getting there Lite worm rod.. I really like it, believe it is in the AS micro models. This will be my shakey rod.

my second question is on a rod i have made my mind getting but one small obsticale is holding me back, it is the quantium smoke 6'3 spinning rod, plan on using for skipping and small grubs. My reason for holding back is I havnt really heard much on there rods.. I love the smoke reel.. any of you guys got em. was really wanting to get these local instead of the net, unless it is an extreamly good deal

Well TW has Smoke rods for $90 free shipping.

Dont know about the spinning line but I have a casting Smoke 7' MF and its a great rod. Well balanced with a 5.9oz reel along with being very light 3.4oz so a 6'3" should be even lighter. Sensitivity based on the price of $90 is extremely good. I have/had Croix Premier spinning, Abu veritas micro and my Smoke has noticeably better sensitivity rivals my Avid.

Im with you about buying local when feasible but when a good deal pops up I go for'em. Might your local match the TW price? So if the spinning rod holds true to the casting rods the Smoke would be a very good choice.

Im looking at the 6'3 smoke rods on TW right now. Thought the lure weights were a little on the light side, 1/8-1/4oz for a 6'3 medium rod ? My 6'3 medium fenwick elite tech smallie rod is 1/8-3/4oz.

I really want the medium light but curious about how much lighter it is over the medium, anybody handle these, none of the stores around here have them.
