Having problems with my transducer kicking up all the time. Boat is an aluminum deep v. There is a pretty good rooster tail when running (Too low in the water maybe?). Anyway, I screwed the kick up bracket down and it broke today. Was fine on calm water but I hit some major boat wakes and that's when it broke. You can see in the pic it was mounted near the bottom center of the board. I can raise it up maybe an inch to inch and a half. Do you think that will help? Or is there somewhere else I should mount it? If it matters, I get good side and down pics on the starboard side. The port side gets interference from the motor. I have heard guys will mount a second transducer on the port side and connect with a Y cable. I may consider that if I can get the kick up issue fixed. Thanks.

Those Humminbird mounting brackets are known garbage. Mine kicks up any time I am in rougher water, but I refuse to put the third screw in because I don't want the bracket to break it if it wants to kick and it can't. Fortunately on my Ranger I only use the external one for the side imaging and I was able to mount it a little higher than normal because I don't need it in the water in anything more than idle speed. I did the Y cable for the shoot thru hull transducer which handles all my 2d sonar needs.

If you are getting good images where its mounted now, you may want to look into an aftermarket bracket. I have seen some that have been made while visiting the couple different Humminbird forums out there.
