Winter Bassin

Featured Replies

Who fished through winter here? Particularly in mass or nh. I don't ice fish or hunt just fish anywhere I can that hasn't froze over. Last year was ideal with the mild winter I was able to fish the Dam at mystic reservoir upper and lower as well as the Merrimack river in Manchester and bedford. What do you use for bait/ presentation/ and where do you fish. I'm definAtely going to try the warm water disharge in bow this year I've seen YouTube videos of people catching bass in December and January any one know where the bass winter in any deep pools along the Merrimack ?

Behind Stellos stadium in Nashua did not freeze last year at athe dam. Also the water behind Margarittas in Nashua didnt freeze but it is tough to get to and fish.

I have fished the warmwater discharge in Bow many times, and it is very hit or miss. If they are pulling water, you can have an awesome day out there, but when they are not pulling, sometimes there will be half dozen boats in a very small area and no one catches anything.

I have fished other parts of the Merrimack during the winter, but the water is so cold that I have never even gotten a bite with artifical lures in December-February. Has anyone else caught fish in the Merrimack during the winter, other than at the power plant?

I've caught a few in the merrimack during winter but I believe it was more luck than having a good spot unh do u know if pine island pond freezes I know it's dammed so I'm wondering if the water moves enough to stay opened if it does it's shallow enough to easily find and fish the winter haunt. As for whined margaritas I can get down there but I don't think any fish will winter there would they? How bout behind Stellos? Is it deep enough for bass to winter they don't like current when it's freezing I know that but if there is any eddys around that are deep they'll pile up
