I got mine today, but always wondered about the history that led to the Oct. 1--Sep. 30 license year.

I think it's just dovetailed in with hunting season.

I thought it followed the old inland trout season, which used to close on Sept. 30.

That makes even more sense.

I don't think so.

Not that it matters for me really I get it for free but the wife has to pay so I guess it still means I pay for a license also....
