I'm planning on picking up a couple of used Shimano Citica from eBay. I know 200G is the current model (I've got one), but not sure of the other ones.

Is the order from oldest model to newest model like the following?:

CI-200

200D

200E

200G

How old is CI-200, if that's the oldest model? And are they pretty much the same or was there noticeable improvement happened during the course of model changes?

The best in my opinion is the E models. I have both the E and G, and they are both good. The CI and D are bigger than the E and G's.

The D series are also pretty sweet! E is probably the best. The G has been pretty durable so far for me with proper maintenance.

If you really want to spoil yourself? Get a Chronarch 200E(I though LMG was going to say it!).

Haven't fished the G, but have owned the bantam citicas, and do own two D's and one E. Like the D the best of the three; closely followed by the E. I think the D is a more "solid" reel; only drawback is it's sort of heavy. But I think heavier reels balance rods better, so it's all good.

How old is the Citica 200 ------- > back then when the dinosaurs roamed the eath, not that it was a bad reel, it was a very good reel until you thought about it a little bit more cuz with 20 bucks more you could purchase a Curado B ( 100 or 200 ), one of the best reels ever made and get 4 more bearings and much better performance. That line up was discontinued a good 7+ years ago, the only remaining reel from that venerable line up is the Castaic.

Actually the not that old Citica D is a much, but really much better reel than the old Citica, the truth is that the Citica D is up par with the Curado 200BSF, so, my take is: don´t spend your money in an old & used reel, if you are going to spend in used reel and you think about the Citica get at least the Citica D.

Does 200E come in different gear ratio? I don't see notation like 200E5, 200E6 or 200E7...

No. Only the new G is in different ratios. The E is just a 6._.
