Best Lakes In Ct To Catch A 4+Lb Bass?

Featured Replies

With gas around $4 now, I'd like my trips to at least have the potential of catching a quality fish.

Candlewood Lake not sure how it's doing now but it produces some big bass (largmouth and smallmouth)...I know your asking for lakes but if you ever fish rivers from shore try the housatonic river for smallies.

Have you tried Lake Saltonstall? There are some really big bass in there as well as some nice walleye.

I haven't where is the location?

Candlewood. 'nuff said.

Yes its in East Haven CT its part of the Regional Water Authority, there only open on weekends for the rest of the season unless you have a pass then you can fish everyday off the dock or walk the lake. You cant bring your own boat but they have rentals $15 for the day if you bring your own trolling motor and battery or you can rent there's. Its a nice lake and is super super clean its def. worth checking out IMO.

Thanks guys. I haven't tried Candlewood mainly because I fish mostly from a canoe, and it's usually tough going in the lakes that have the water skiers and jet skies. Almost got swamped in Besek lake this year, Highland last year and Bantam a couple of years ago.

Candlewood X3, but from a canoe, try across the road at Squantz Pond. I've caught some really nice fish out of there. Plenty of 3+'s.
