New Football Rivalry

In yesterday's Richmond Times-Dispatch sports section there was an article about the University of Virginia and Duke having a heated football rivalry.

So who cares? Is the writer on the sauce or what?

Maybe in basketball, but football? Never.

The article was accompanied by a photo from last year's game showing a UVA and a Duke player nose to nose. I think the caption should have read "UVA running back Dufas Dumb**** and Duke's lnebacker Irving Fernerk discuss their favorite poetry and poet during the game."

Hey folks, it is ACC football. It is not impotant in the scheme of college football.

Now if it was ACC basketball then we have something to discuss. However, Duke and North Carolina seem to have a heated rivalry in basketball that parallels that of Alabama-Auburn, Notre-Dame-Southern Cal and Ohio State-Michigan in football.

I guess it was a slow sports day for the Times-Dispatch.
