Float N' Fly?

Featured Replies

I'm hearing all this hype about this as being a killer smallie rig, but is it really? I can't come to grow enough confidence that it'll catch the huge river smallies I want on those little jigs? And how do you work the rig? slowly reel in while its out under a slip bober?

Anyone have any advice or comments?

Check out youtube but heres how i rig it get a spro phat fly with a sliding bobber and throw it out there and let it sit watch your bobber every now and then move it a little but let in sit killer rig

I was born and raised about 20 miles from where the fnf was invented. To fish the fnf the way it was originally designed you fish an ultra lite 8-10 ft rod with around 4lb mono or floro. Usually start the bobber off around 10 ft and go more or less depending upon where the fish are. I've fished it as deep as 22 and let me tell ya it's a fun job to try and cast that contraption. There are a lot of good videos online about the technique and I'll be the first to admit it catches some monster smallmouth. Check out punisher lures, they brought the technique to the mainstream.

It's boring watching a beach ball all day, I only pull it out early morning or if its so cold nothing else is working....

I'm in northern wisconsin and its not clear water, will the float and fly even work? I have a crick by my place that is loaded with 4lbers -6. I've only caught them on wacky senkos but this rig intrigues me.

I used it in a muddy pond worked well for lm
