Question For Florida Fisherman

Featured Replies

I note that many trophy fish come from the St Johns. It's a rather large river for a stranger. What would be a good stretch of the river for that stranger to fish? Or would someplace else be better?

IMHO from living and fishing here about a year I would say if you had the option I would fish a lake, rodman reservoir is a favorite for most people up here and have heard much about it. But if u were to fish the river further south the better, Palakta had the elite series this year, or I think it is lake Monroe by I-4. There is also lake George too. Now up here in Jax it is tidal and very salty. U will catch redfish and spec easier than lmb and u can catch lmb on live shrimp. but from reading reports it has been saltier than usual the past couple years, bluefish are in the river, and you are liable to catch stripers sometimes even down to the dam 80 miles from here. Hope this helps a little.

the sjr is very big and intimidating. It all depends if you have a boat or not and where you live.the best stretch for big bass is from palatka to lake george.starting next month the biggest bass in the sjr will come from lake george area as bedding season starts.
