Reel Painting/ Polishing

Featured Replies

I thought I'd share a project I've been working on for a few weeks. Stripped and polished some parts, painted the frame. I was planning on anodizing the alum parts, but multi metal construction keeps me from being able to do that. Later Shimano reels will just be painted.

Sweet! I've always thought about it but never tried.

Not that bad at all, the polishing wasnt the way im going in the future, but painting you dont need to get into the gear side of the reel, just pull off the handle. It was a fun project.

This may sound like a stupid ? but what did you use for a finish coat? Couple coats of clear or some type of polyurethane or something of that nature. Kinda intrested in trying it out on a few of my reels but want it to last. Got a couple of "practice" reels to try it out on b4 trying it out on the first string reels.
