Rod Guide Question

Featured Replies

When I got my new rod I was so excited I accidentally knocked a guide onto the table. the guide bent a very, very small amount but I instantly bent it back. You can't even tell the difference. Was I wrong to do this? Should I do something else?

it happens I'm sure most of us have bent guides and bent them back.the more it happens to the same guide the weaker the guide becomes. I had a custom rod made that had micros on it that where so frail I finally had it rewraped with alconlites.

Are you sure? Noting will give me problems in the past?

Trying fishing with your 5 year old kid on the deck, you get used to bending eyes back. lol

BTW I have a baitcast rod. In the small crevice where the metal of the guide (one of the upper guides) meets the rod, there is what seems to be a very, very small dab of glue. This is now separated from a piece of the guide, but the guide still feels vey firm on the rod. Is this all good?

If the guide is solid, insert in place and there are no cracks in the metal outer ring of the guide, don't worry about.

I've got a cracked guide and haven't had time to take in, put a little duct tape on and it's been good for weeks.
