I own both the medium and medium heavy and the MH will be perfect for your uses. I use the medium as my "ultralight" casting rod. I spool up with 20# superslick and cast 3/16 oz bass jigs or even 1/8 if I have the wind at my back. You will love your new rod and also the lifetime warranty

I had it out for a short while last weekend and I really liked the extra power when pulling jigs from the brush. Rod felt great all-in-all. that said, it was freezing cold and windy so I didn't stay long nor did I catch anything.

Going to be about 50 here today do I will be taking it out again and hopefully I'll catch something this time!
