Mustad Denny Brauer Grip Pin Max Hooks

Featured Replies

Anyone tried these yet? I placed an order for a couple packs last night but it'll be at least another week before they arrive. I think they look very interesting just because of the keeper design they have. I've been perfectly satisfied with my BMF and Owner Zo wire flipping hooks but just couldn't resist trying some of these. I like and use different hooks from all three of the major hook manufacturers; Gamakatsu, Owner, and Mustad so when I saw these were coming out I knew I'd have to try them.

So I'd love to hear your opinions if you have fished these already, thanks.

Well, I tried the older KVD Grip Pin hooks from last year, with just the metal pin, and they snagged on everything under the sun. The newer KVD Grip Pin keeper design has worked much better and I will be purchasing more.

After taking a look at the hook you mentioned... I had to order a few packs

I tried one package of the old style KVD's as well and found the same isuue you did. Don't think I'll be giving them a second chance.

Well maybe for both our sakes these flipping hooks will turn out to be the real deal.

My Grip Pin's came in today, first impressions of them are good. The keeper is nicer than I thought it would be. It feels durable but I won't know for sure until I get some fishing time with them, obviously. I got three packs, two Grip Pin Max - 4/0 & 5/0 and one Grip Pin Edge - 3/0. The 3/0 seems like it will be really good finesse type of hook but I'm not so sure about using it to flip heavy cover with. It says in the description on Tackle Warehouse that it is suppose to be a flipping hook but the wire is really light in my opinion. I'm sure I'll give it a shot but I also know I will be very conscious of the fact that it is a light wire hook and because of this I hope it doesn't make me fish "afraid" and start to miss fish.

As I've mentioned before I love to flip baby Paca Craws and the 4/0 Max hook fits these baits perfectly. This will more than likely be my favorite of the ones I just recieved.

I've been using the Grip Pin Max for pitching in heavy cover and punching mats for about three months and have been very pleased with their performance.
