7Strand Uncoated Wire & Sleeves

Featured Replies

I can't seem to find this in 60lb wire with some a2 sleeves at any of my local tackle stores. Can someone here recommend where I could get this or a good website to order it from? I will also be needing a crimping tool (preferably one that crimps the sleeve around and over the wire instead of putting a line down the wire.

I buy this stuff all the time, luckily I can get coated and uncoated wire and sleeves at my local tackle store.  I do order from a company in NY, Terminal Tackle and 4fishin.com, both companies have just about everything.  I have found that I prefer a single barrel sleeve over a double barrel.  Codes for sizes are not consistent from one outlet to another, an email to them would get you the right ID (inside dimension) for 60Lb wire.  When crimping, do not crimp too close the the ends of the sleeves.  Quite often I'll crimp heavy mono leaders like 60-80 or 100# instead of tieing.

Thanks SirSnookalot. I'm in Southern California so I'm going to call around to some local saltwater shops and see what they have. They are pretty hit and miss here and I'm getting this wire to rig some of my swimbaits a little differently. Thanks for the pointers though.

Fishermans warehouse. I will post a link but they may take it down.

Thanks man everything is right there on one page. I'll probably do this if I can't find something local.

I'm surprised local shops don't have it, even Dicks carries most items.  I personally have not used 7strand uncoated wire, I use coated Surflon with sleeves or single strand piano wire ( Malins ) using a haywire twist for connection.

I found it at a small local saltwater tackle shop I had to do some searching though.. none of the freshwater shops have it and the dicks sporting goods stores don't even have a fishing section out here by the coast.
