pre-rigged carolina rigs.....

Featured Replies

I'm new to the c-rig.  i was wondering if anyone has used the pre-rigged carolina set-ups.  are they worth getting?  also, if you have, which brand/size are best?

Rigging your own would be best, but getting one of those 3/4 oz pre rigged setups will give you a pretty good idea what Carolina rigging is about. Then if you decide you like them and want to use them frequently, you can go out and buy the tungsten sinkers in 1/2, 3/4, and 1 oz, with glass beads and different clackers, etc.

Carolina rigging isn't for everyone. A $2 pre rigged setup is a good place to start.

Useless wastes of money.  Instant hang-up machines.

Since they're time consuming to rig, before a fishing trip, I make up 4 to 6 in the evenings while watching TV with my wife. I tie this way; brass bullet weight, red glass bead, green glass bead, red plastic  bead (easier on the knot then a hard glass bead), swivel, leader, hook. The two glass beads and brass weight really make a clacking racket!

just spend the money on the gear and make your own, btw what are these clackers you are talking about? never heard of them.

The clacker is usually a brass bead that knocks against the glass bead, making more noise than just the main sinker and glass bead will.

It goes like this. Main sinker - 1 or 2 glass beads - clacker - plastic bead - knot.

An example of the clacker/ticker.

I appreciate the advise.....I'll give a shot at making my own!

I tried those pre rigged ones when I was new to c-rigging.  Complete waste of money.

I never really liked to c rig, but as it works really well in my neck of the woods i have one stout rod always set up.

I decided to add a few of these to my basket the last time I picked up some jigs at Overstock Bait & Tackle.

You can tell they're old, but they seem all right. Haven't used them yet, but think they will be handy to have should the need arise. Plus it's got a Lake Fork Trophy Lure at the end of it already.
