  1. Im looking to get an Alumacraft 2072SC. Im not sure if I should get a 90 or 115 HP motor. Clearly, if you can go bigger you do. But Im looking to save a little money for a trolling motor/electronics as well as weight on the back end of the boat. What would the performance difference be between a 90 and a 115? Would 25 more horses make a huge difference?
  2. I have a G3 HP 200. I'm not a huge fan of the color. I was wondering if it could be repainted and if so, how difficult would it be to do on my own? Would it cost an arm and a leg to have someone do it for me?
  3. I have been reading over the trailer re-wiring advice you all have gave, which I think is great. My trailer wiring is inside the frame, and from what I gather, replacing those wires can be rather tedious and time consuming. Is there anyway I can check and see if the issue is with my light and/or connectors before re-wiring?
  4. Im not sure what's going on. My lights on my boat wont work. Everything else on my control panel, like the bilge, livewell, horn, etc work just fine. My question is, why not the lights? The light on the button for the lights doesn't come on. Is there a problem with the switch? A problem between the battery and the switch? Between the switch and the lights? Im not really electrically inclined.
  5. Thanks for the idea.....I'll check them out.
  6. I'm not sure what you'd call it, but the carpeted part under the fender that protects the boat from the wheels/fender rotted out on my G3 trailer. What would be a god approach to replacing these?
  7. Thanks A-Jay. After looking at my trolling motor today I realized all of the parts inside were fine. The only thing that broke was the plastic cover. Got a new one ordered and I have sighed a huge sigh of relief. I thought it would be way more complicated and/or expensive.
  8. This weekend, the top part of my Minn Kota Maxxum trolling motor broke. I have looked online and I believe it is called the contol box. It's the top part of the trolling motor where the arrow is and the gears that turn the shaft. I broke off from the shaft. I cannot find a replacement for this online, only the covers. Is this part repair/replacable? Or am I now in the market for a new one?
  9. I have read on here before and other sites to pour some 7-Up (or similar soda) down the throat. I guess it helps to cauterize the wound. Don't know if it really works or not, but I do it and havent lost a fish.
  10. Just remember that we have to be the bigger people when there are pleasure boaters on the water. Yes, most of them are drunk, acting stupid, and rarely following the rules. But when anglers react, we get a bad reputation. Keep that in mind. Take the high road.
  11. So the other night my livewell wasnt working. Tonight, I have concluded it must be the pump. I unhooked the wiring from the switch, connected it directly to the battery and got nothing. Now I'm trying to removeit, but cant figure out how. It's a Rule 500 GPH 12V pump. It almost seems like it is mounted toa aluminum plate in my boat. How do I get this dang thing out?
  12. I have a question about my two spinning rods. I know they can be just as beneficial to fishing as a baitcaster, but what works best on them? I have a 6'M and a 6'6M. Your thoughts?
  13. Tomorrow morning will be the opening tournament of the season for me and my partner. All week long it has been 85 or so degrees. Last night we had a rain storm and its dropped to 60 today. Tomorrow's supposed to be 66 and water is fairly clear. What should I be throwing? Thanks for the help guys.
  14. I fish weeknight tournaments with a group of guys I would consider friends before competitors. Sure, we all want to win, but it's more about having fun and bragging rights (the entry fee is only $25). I'll never get rich fishing these tournaments, but man does fishing change when money's on the line.
  15. Just wanted to pass this along.....I have found that if you hook a fish deep or in the gills, if you dump diet 7-up or sprite zero (like 2 ozs.) over the wound, it seems to almost cauterize the wound and they stay healthy and alive. Just my experience.
  16. I have to agree with Stratos on several things. 1. Don't fight the wind with a trolling motor. I have found that I spend so much time with the tm, i dont concentrate on fishing, which can completely blow your tournament. 2. I also agree about wind blown banks. I understand the theory, but I have not seen the results. The last thing I would add is to use a side-arm/underhand cast that darts your lure through the air, rather than over hand, which will carry where you dont want it or cause serious backlash. Try to cast with your pole at 4 or 5 o'clock.
  17. Ok, I know this has been asked before. I tried a search and couldn't find the older threads, so I need a little help. I have condensation on the inside of my Humminbird screen. Is there anyway to get it dried out or to prevent it? Sorry for the repeat but thanks for the help.
  18. ok....thisis too funny. I double checked my connectons again today and I cant figure it out. Then I honked the horn, and the battery indicator lights came on! I guess I'll be contacting the company for assistance.
  19. I have a Dual Pro 2 bank onboard charger, and after putting my batteries back in my boat toady, i noticed something odd. First off, when I plug in the charger, the exterior indicator lights dont light up. Also, when I went to trim the motor down, the lights lit up. I put the positive and negative wires on the two trolling motor batteries and nothing else is on them. What am I doing wrong?
  20. This was a cool fish....the top and side of it's head was all black. Real wicked looking.
  21. One thing todo would be to get the rubber nets. They are much better on the fish than the rope type, plus they dont snag the hooks either. That means less time in the net, which is also better on the fish.
  22. I look at it like this, if someone was willing to give me tons of lure in all shapes, colors, and sizes...i would definitely accept their gracious gift and find a spot for them
  23. I appreciate the advise.....I'll give a shot at making my own!
  24. nice job! i like the color and the look of the back deck
  25. I'm new to the c-rig. i was wondering if anyone has used the pre-rigged carolina set-ups. are they worth getting? also, if you have, which brand/size are best?
