I just bought a lake fork swimming fish bait thing. Looks like it is on a jig with a sectioned tail..... KNow what I'm talkin bout? i knew you would.... anywho.... You think this thing will work on the river. It is kinda big compared to what i usually use.

You mean the Live Magic Shad ( Javallon knock off ), yup they work and can be fished not only as a swimbait, size matters to you, it doesn 't matter to bass, they have bigger mouths than brains.

They are good baits and bass of all sizes will try to eat them.

Lake Fork has a 3 1/2" and a 5 1/2" version on the way as well.

Yes it will most definetly work for river bass.  On my first trip of the season earlier this week I had a good deal of success with it (on a river).  In fact it was the only bait that put fish in the boat.  As far as size goes the 4 1/2 should work just fine I caught fish in the range of 1-3 pounds on it.  I had more success throwing against the current and bringing the bait back upstream slow rolling it just enough to keep the tail moving.  Its a great bait at a good price but lacks durability they rip up pretty easily.
