Yesterday, I bought an Abu Garcia Silver Max for $20 off list price, at Gander Mountain.  The clerk said they were discontinuing it. Don't know if that meant Gander or ABU, That made it $49.97.  Good enough reel for me, especially for that price.

I have 4 in my line up and haven't had any issues with them.  Can't beat them for the price.

Which Silver Max did you get?  The Silver Max original or the Silver Max 2?  I had an original Silver Max and within a year the reel began acting up.  I shipped it down to Abu and what they shipped back was a Silver Max 2.  I was extremely happy.

 

I love the Max2 series of reels.  I have 3 Silver Max2's and 1Pro Max2.  I'm a huge fan!

The whole max line are good budget reels. People bag on them all the time because they aren't high dollar reels, but they work and fish great.
