  1. Nick Berlin started following Felix77
  2. Keitech Swing Impact Strike King Fat Baby Finesse Worm Berkley Powerbait Chigger Craw Roboworm ST 6" Yamamoto Senko
  3. I typically use Colgate which comes with that cap. Just make sure to wash it good. Don't be surprised if your first few baits also include a little Spearmint or Peppermint smell in them. LOL
  4. For what it's worth I use their rating as a general rule of thumb. There are too many variables to consider ... line size, line type (mono v Fluoro), length of cast, speed of retrieve etc. I have a solid setup which uses 12lb Fluoro with a 5x:1 reel and a 7' Cranking rod. I tested each bait using the rating to see how deep I can go before I don't feel it hitting bottom. After that you can sharpie that depth under the bill and you know for sure how each crank works for you. Key was making sure it worked for me and my setup.
  5. I thought the same thing ... just saved my toothpaste caps and put them on my MegaStrike.
  6. Sold. Love the concept. Pop it and crank over the weeds. Should be a killer for the fishing I like to do.
  7. I use the tactical anglers power clip. As others have already said ... I also remove the split ring which comes with the cranks. The smallest they sell works for all bass applications. I use the larger ones on my striper setups with no issues. http://www.tacticalanglers.com/products.html#powerclips
  8. Cody, You do not have to participate in all the events however the incentives are great to compete in them all. We have acquired a sponsor who will be awarding a new Wilderness Systems Radar Kayak to our Angler of the Year. We are in the process of updating the website, our Facebook page and registering our events on Tourney X. I will PM you with those specifics. Thanks Felix Thanks Clayton!
  9. Definitely not dead sticking it ... I will get it walking and give it a twitch, twitch, pause (second or two), twitch, twitch, twitch, pause motion all the way back. I vary it and they always strike it on the dead pause. I think of it as warming up my dormant fishing muscles. HA!
  10. Yup ... I don't spend much time with it but some of the biggest bass I caught were just after ice out with as slow of a retrieve as I can. Not fast at all.
  11. Jig, Lipless Crankbait, Finesse swimbait and Drop Shot. I always throw a Sexy Dawg too just because some of by biggest bass have shown up that way right after ice out.
  12. Even in northern NY there are open water opportunities with this warm weather. I was ice fishing this weekend and some of my other friends further north were posing pictures of catching fish on their kayak. What a world. HA!
  13. All, Just wanted to introduce you to the NY Capital Region Kayak Bass Fishing Club. Our inaugural season looks to be an exciting one as you can see with the schedule below. We intend to work with the tournament directors across the state to co-host the State Championship at a location TBD. Wish me luck ... been on these forums for years .... looking forward to this season and hopefully seeing some of you there.
  14. Bummer I missed this thread ... would love to have participated. Merry Christmas to all of you!!!
  15. Mine are a bit different than past years ... I think I have burned myself a bit with being a co-angler and want to step back from that a bit. With that said my goals are as follows ... 1 - Learn how to catch bass with a fly rod. That implies learning how to use one. 2 - Spend more time fishing from my kayak instead of so many co-angler events. 3 - Don't forget to have fun while you are out there. Why else do this!!! #3 seems a bit awkward maybe BUT somehow I was forgetting about having fun too much in these events.
  16. @bighead and I had a blast on Toledo Bend a few years ago. Met a few others .... I always try to connect with someone from BR when I travel. So far only 1 has bit on connecting.
