  1. Hi guys, Does anybody want to go fishing this weekend? Looking for a company/partner. A boat can be rented there, and the costs can be split. If you have your boat, I can share fuel costs. Please PM if interested. Thank you!
  2. Let me share my experience. I used braided line in all of my reels, but because of numerous backlashes I moved to fluorocarbon. And I felt good until I bought ultralight rod and Daiwa SV TW with Roro studio spool. I putted fluorocarbon line there as well and it was my huge mistake. I can't cast far, I had a lot of backlashes, I was about to return both rod and reel t back to seller and finish up with fishing at all. While one smart man in this forum advised me to put braided line. And this advise becomes a game changer. Sensitivity changes dramatically, cast distance improved in almost 3 times. Only thing is that backlashes with braided line take much more time, but I hope it will improve with more expensive line. Or not? Another thing I need to recall is how to pull fish from the water. With fluorocarbon I didn't care about that at all, it was smooth and nice. Braided line is totally different story, but it will be improved with time and gained experience. Hop it helps.
  3. It's a nice one! I had really good time on Piney Run using mudbug/crawfish from Walmart. Just $3 and tons of fun. Every fishing brings me a hit and catch. But water is still warm, so I believe in more aggressive play later this fall.
  4. In that puddle solid fish? Are we speaking about Westminster Community Pond???
  5. Awesome! Is it Westminster pond?
  6. Can you guys advise where to fish at Triadelphia reservoir with no boat? Or boat is must-have there? Thank you!
  7. Hello, guys, I'm on the market for new reel for lures around 1/4 oz, some of them maybe even less than 1/4. I.e. Keitech 2.8". I made my research and found that Lew’s Custom Lite SLP is one of the top recommended reels for such things, however, I didn't see anything bad about it. I mean I read a lot of benefits, but nobody tells about negative moments. Is it really perfect? Why I may want to buy it? Or Daiwa Alphas SV TW is my preferred choice for that? And again, why? Thank you beforehand for your opinion and feedback!
  8. It's smaller, and not sure how shallow MGL spool, but BFS is extremely shallow. About 50 yards of 6 lb fluorocarbon.
  9. I fish in Piney Run most of the time and really love this place. Will join you gladly there of Triadelphia and ready to cover the your costs in exchange on few lessons from your side PM me if you're OK with that
  10. My daughter and I were fishing at Piney Run. She caught 2 basses, about 1-1.5 each. Both for crawler.
  11. I propose very cheap source of heat we used in my childhood. It is a mix of: portion iron filings, portion of copper filings, portion of regular kitchen salt, 1 portion of charcoal. Add some water (it shouldn't be a problem, right?) and voila!
  12. Where the Tom's Creek is? Is it somewhere at Monocacy? It shouldn't be far from me, but I never tried to fish there, could you recommend some directions? I'm not gonna take your place, just trying to understand where to go next time. Thank you!
  13. Will go with my daughter either to Liberty Reservoir or Piney Run Lake at Saturday. However, we are opened for options if anybody from Mount Airy, Frederick, Westminster or SE Pennsylvania going to fish somewhere.
  14. I was born in USSR. We always felt lack of normal food, it was Socialism as it is, and at 90s, when USSR has fallen, we had nothing in stores literally. Nothing at all, they are were empty. Can you imagine absolutely empty Walmart? We had that At that days we ate any fish So yes, my mom does not understand 'catch and release' conception and my wife as well If man has a rod he must bring fish home. Period. But I always feel sorry about bass I caught. It faught it best, it is not deserves to end up his life on my dinner table, so I release it But luckily I have my little one, who helps me to "fix" situation with released bass with couple of bluegills.
