Locally some people are having good luck with Shad Raps and Husky Jerk Baits.  I am not much of a crankbait fisherman, what size and color would you guys suggest I buy?

Water is stained now, but will clear up later on.

Shad Raps and Husky Jerks aren't really crankbaits.  I suggest Strike King Series 3, 5, and 6.  They're good at an affordable price.  Another good crankbait is anything made by Norman.  Deep Little N's, and DD22's are good.

Shad Raps are crankbaits, Husky Jerks are jerkbaits. A bait doesn 't have to be fat to be a crankbait.

How are they not really a crankbait?   Made of Balsa or plastic and have multiple hooks mounts and treble hooks.

Speaking of Shad Raps, the bait I fish the most is the Shad Rap, not only it 's available in a big bunch of colors and sizes ( Shad, Shiner and Baby Bass I my favorites ) it 's also available in mutliple variations, wood and plastic, plus different bouyancies ( floating, low rising and suspending ) :

All of them catch fish. 

Also the Xrap Shad/Shallow Xrap Shad.

Pick colors and size based on the forage in the lakes/rivers you are fishing.

Get an assortment of sizes and colors.  I use 1/4oz cranks mostly. Followed by 3/8 then 1/2.  As for colors...

What I use most of the time:

Pearl or white

Sexy Shad(or any shad variation for that matter)

Bluegill

Other colors:

Chartreuse (Black, Blue or Brown back)

Red Crawdad or any craw color

Rootbeer/Baby Bass

I have even caught fish at night with a sexy shad colored bait. Its my #1 producer day or night.
