Getting Introduced Into The Tournament Scene?

Featured Replies

Whenever I am not working or with the family I am fishing. I love to fish particularly bass fishing. I am 17 years of age and would consider myself a decent fisherman I have caught many 4-5lb bass over the past two summers. What I want to know is how can I enter the tournament scene? I have very little budget, no boat, and the only other people I fish with is my grandpa, and a few friends that can't fish to save their lives. Any help or tips on how to start fishing tournaments would be really appreciated!

Thanks!

Join your team in high school then your team in college and be a co angler. It is the easiest way unless you can be a co angler for a local club. To make it in the tournament scene it takes money I would suggest getting a job first.

Look for locals clubs and start as a co-angler. Gather some experience, make connections with other tournament fisherman and go from there.

Tournament fishing doesn't have to be exorbitantly expensive, but it does require money.  You need a job.

You're in St. Joe, MO?  There is a pretty active bass club - Pony Express Bass Masters out of St Joe.  I don't know any of those guys personally, I've met there here and there incidentally.  Across the river, there is a very active bass club in Leavenworth.

Good luck in your endeavors.  Get a job.  Find out if you can catch "many" 4-5 lb bass during tournament time.
