Painted Vs Unpainted Jig Heads....

Featured Replies

Does it matter if your jig heads are painted or not? (In terms of catching fish)

I don't have enough experience to have input......

I mainly fish painted jigs. Usually black and blue, green pumpkin and brown and orange. I don't fish un-painted jig. However, many guys catch fish on raw jigs. I think this is a personal choice and a confidence thing.

What Cadman said. All of my jigs are painted, none if my Texas rig/Carolina rig sinkers are painted and most of my shakey heads aren't. Fish wants to eat it'll eat...

It's funny, I wouldn't think of throwing a skirted jig with an unpainted head but think nothing of using an unpainted head with a grub or worm, go figure. It is easy to paint bare jigs, while I powder paint all you really need something like Testors model paint.
