Thanks..Does anyone else have any other advice? Just looking forward to getting a reel/ rod for topwater. Thanks guys

Okuma Trio. Best $50 I've ever spent. I used to fish nothing but Shimano spinning reels, but I took a chance on the Trio and I love it. Great, great reel.

Take a look at the shimano sahara 2500 or the shimano symetre 2500. Both are under $100 and would be great choices. If you have a reel for the trade in you can come out a little better off. I have both of these reels and feel the symetre is worth the extra money... just a smoother reel.

Check out the Abu Garcia Orra, Dicks sells a combo for about $100. I own 2 of the spinning reels and love em both.

See the thread on the same subject just below this one.

The Shimano Sedona is an excellent reel. I have two of the 1000 series that I use on my ultralight setups. I got them from Amazon for 53.00 a piece.

As has been noted, someone just asked the same, exact question over here.
