Older Long As?

Featured Replies

What is the difference between today's Long As and the older models? Why do the people that wake these prefer the older ones?

Why do people say screwtail in eBay listings? Is this how you can tell the difference?

Mainly, how can I tell the difference if I order off of eBay?

The older models use a screweye to attach the ring that holds the back hook on. I love the older models and still have several. as with all older bomber baits the finish can get a white powder buildup which can be cleaned off.

What exactly is the difference in the new and old ones? I read that the rattles are louder in the old ones but is there anything else?

If you got to read the article on waking in FLW magazine you would see the guys featured said they prefered the older ones but the new ones worked fine as well as long as they are chrome. Sounds more like a confidence thing to me. I would like to have an old one but I wouldnt sweat it too much.

Bought a '79/'80 model last night on eBay. It's definitely a confidence thing but to me that's the most important thing in bass fishing.

Maybe the plastic used to make the older baits has better floation.
