Devils River

I didn't realize Texas has such beautiful rivers.  This looks like an amazing trip.

The video won't play.  It says its restricted on certain sites.  That being said, I saw a show on Animal Planet where the host and a guide fished the Devils River from kayaks.  They went through some rapids, pulled a hook out of the guides ankle, and caught some chunky bass.  Beautiful river like you said and some nice fish too.

I used to do a Devils trip every spring break while in college. When I first started going we would catch 50+ fish a day. A few years later, Texas Monthly and a few other magazines did articles/features on it and it blew up with tourism. After that, we would be lucky to catch maybe 10 fish a day. Its a really beautiful river though with gin clear water once you get a few miles past the Bakers crossing area. I think the fishing has since picked up. I'm heading there at the end of april for a trip so I'll have to give yall an update.

Definitely on my fishing bucket list but I hear logistics can be difficult since it is pretty much all private riverbanks.

that is disappointing to hear, and totally bizarre bc it doesn't look like there are any houses for 50 miles in any direction.  i guess some people don't want anyone on their property, even if its 2 mountain ranges away
