I fish Abu Garcia and in the market for a new high speed reel. Obviously I am looking at a Revo but a tackle shop is selling Smoke 150s (Burner) for $146. That seems one hell of a price to pass up however i have had issues with KVD Quantums in the past. Are the Smoke a better product or are all Quantums the same?

The Quantum PT line is great. Thats a steal for that reel. Do it.

Great reel, my furthest casting that I own. Took awhile to get used to and backlashed a lot at first for some reason, never had that problem with any other reel but once I got a feel for it it will absolutely bomb lures.

Great deal on a quality reel. My gf just got me one for around the same price on Amazon, and I love it. The ACS braking system is different from my other reels, but once dialed in it bombs lures. Super smooth on the retrieve as well.

I just sold a 100 HS Smoke on Craigslist. I use all Revos but always loved the look of the Smoke so i bought one during a TW sale. It felt very nice in hand and casted well. But it had too much play in the handle (anti reverse) and i did not like the braking system used on it either. Bottom line is, you can get a G3 STX for that price if you look around and it is twice the reel the Smoke is.

I suggest the Daiwa Lexa 100 in the high speed model. Only $130 and is an awesome reel

Had a few "upper end" quantums. Never again. I haven't used a smoke so take it for what it's worth. Nothing. I won't be testing quantum reels anytime soon

Look on eBay for a seller by the name of bigfishsports. G3 STX $156.74 shipped. It's $10 more than your Smoke but well worth it! I have gotten 7 STXS, 4 SXs and 2 Revo S from him with zero issues! He gets them to me n about 2 days after i pay and has a 99.9% + feedback.

BigFishSports is good to work with. Bought my Lexa from them. Bought Yo-Zuri Hybrid from them...

 

Haven't used a Smoke, but like the looks, and it is def light. Handled in store. But love my Lexa over my Quantums.

i own two smoke reels and they are my favorite. They cast a mile and are very light i would recomend them to anyone

I bought mine from that site, it is on Ebay, the STX is incredible and "cheap"

I've got a buddy who swears by his Smoke's. He has E7's running out of his ears, but it's always the Smokes that are on his deck. Fwiw, I've used them plenty, and they are fine reels. Can't say they are any better or worse than other reels in their price range.

I think it is decided that I am going to buy the smoke the place I am buying it from also is trying to compete with the BPS fishing sale and is having asale in the EXO 150, that is $181. They only sell Quanum, Shimano (I do not like Shimano tried them and do'nt like the feel in my hand), and Lews.

You can get some insane deals on Quantum's through Ebay. I've recently purchased two Energies and two Kinetics spent right at 225, all NIB.
