Just got my new rod/reel combo.....i've been bass fishing for about a year now first time i fished for a bass was june of 2012 (live on long island so that means prob have only fished for bass for 3 months total.  I am now gearing up for the start of my full first season i was previously fishing a bass pro shops trigger rod and a bass pro shops extreme baitcaster (green and gold model) which i got for a combined $100 dollars.  I have since broken the rod as on my last fish of the season my rod snapped and i have thrown out the entire combo (horrible reel ) so i ordered a new combo an Abu Garcia Veritas (micro guide series) in 7ft medium (previous was a 6'6" medium but i was advised 7 foot is more versatile) and a bass pro shops pro qualifier bait caster in 7.1:1 have it strung up with 12lb yo - zuri hybrid (previously used 12lb trilene xl mono) just wondering if i made a good decision and wondering what my next rod/reel should be and what line? I fish mostly every style (weighted and unweighted plastics, shaky head, drop shot, crainkbaits, jigs, swim jigs, frogs. spooks, poppers, torpedoes)

Sounds like a pretty good combo you've ended up with. The BPS Pro Qualifier has 600+ reviews, mostly 4 or 5 star, and that's pretty good. Veritas is a nice, light rod. I think you've done well.

I'd say either add a 7' MH next, but yeah you have a good start in your arsenal.

I would look at this thread to give you an idea on what rods you should be getting as you start building your arsenal.
