Howard may be done for the year. Ashame he just raised his batting ave about 20 points the last month. looking good he was.

Haven't heard anything more on Howard's health but he was just starting ot turn around, as he usually does in july.  I almost wonder if him losing weight has led to his injuries.  He was pretty much rock solid until he blew out his achilles which was after a long season and him getting into better shape.

 

This might be a move just to get Ruff some time to see what he can do up in the big leagues.

 

Amaro is hte reason this team stinks.....he has totally disregarded the offensive side of the game.  Starting pitching is fine but when you can't score more than 3 runs a game you are screwed.  I know some of the players are getting older and should be performing better but there was an opportunity with them needing a 3rd basemen and two outfielders and he blew it.

Anyways.....the phillies will win this game today hopefully then probably the series against the nationals just so they can give me some hope and then lose 15 straight to crush my hopes back to where they belong...

Yeah Pence was an awesome fit in Philly and Revere is picking it up somewhat, just has no power or arm.  Pence, Brown and Victorino would have been a pretty good outfield.

Don't forget kruk and dykstra too although dykstra pretty much went nuts from all the roids I think

Kruk was highly underrated too....career .300 hitter and traded his number to a rookie for a case of beer, can't beat that!!!!

How can you not like a guy that had a nut removed? Plus when he hit against  randy Johnson at the all star game, classic stuff.

Just like the nationals and what i have called the Strasburg curse sicne he was pulled last year.....to know you give a guy an innings limit but not manage him so he can pitch all year assuming you will be back next year is not looked highly upon by the baseball gods

I have to say that my opinion on this is stop teaching 6th graders how to throw a curve and having them throw a million innings as hard as they can throw to get to the stupid little league world series. Just because the coaches and dads weren't good enough and didn't win anything doesn't mean you have to make your kid into the next walter johnson all you do is turn him into the next sandy kofax or tommy john. Let them be kids and play. The other half of the problem is these dad that coach don't have a clue and teach improper mechanics. When they are in highschool is when they should be taught this stuff.  and IMO it even shows in cases like the DR where kids play ball all day year round. they play waaaay too much and waaay too hard as youths and their bodies are deteriorated by the time they are grown and ready to play in the bigs. That is my 2 cents and I am sticking to it.

Well he broke a few of Howard's minor league home run records so he can swing the bat.  He will probably run into the same thing howard did though....no place to play.

How stacked are you at SP position? Is there any 3B left on waviers, the guy on chicago cubs or Houstons Matt Dominguez are serviceable if you have a good Ofensvie base to begin with?

 

Gee is hard to gage, his k/bb rate isn't bad, he is allowing a .287 ba which is not good. He has had only 2 bad starts of late. But I think he is on the up swing.....Now I had materson early on in my roto league, I dropped him for arroyo right after he had his first string of three or four bad starts. I  would be worried about him wearing down Look at mastersons splits in 2011 and 2012 he has his worst stats in July, Aug and Sept. And so far he has held true this July. If you want to play the odds I would say do it, and Gee might have a better second half than Materson will or at least similar stat wise.

If he takes that deal that would be a best case. If he insistant on starter for starter maybe see if he would take Tillman, he looks good on paper and while I am an O's fan, could emplode any day now.

Thing I think is funny is half these teams in the lowest revenue catagory are some of the more competitive teams, Rockies, Cards, O's, Brewers, Indians, Rays. All good teams who can't draw a crowd. I remember living in St Pete the rays win the East or wildcard and begging people to come to the playoffs.

Milwaukee's system is dry.  They gutted the farm for the Greinke and Marcum trades, while sending other pieces here and there for guys like K-Rod, Morgan, etc.
