I am looking at getting a new fishfinder for my jon boat to fish small tournaments in. I am looking for something in the less than 100 dollar range. I was thinking of the Garmin Echo series or the Lowrance x-4 series. If any of you have any experience with these or could share some pros and cons for each that would help out a lot.

In my honest opinion, this day in age you should wait till you can step it up to GPS capability. The things you can see on topo maps will show you a whole new piece of water. I wont ever have a boat without it.

You should be able to get gps for under $200 with the lowrance mark 4
