Staying In Homestead, Fl And Want To Bank Fish

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

I will be staying in the Homestead/Florida City area for two nights and would like to find some good places to fish for some largemouth or peacocks from the banks in the evenings and early mornings. Could anyone give me any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

Kevin

Wish I knew I'd drive down there myself.  Peacocks are best caught in daylight hours.

The only area that I know of around homestead is a little more south of you called the aero jet canal. Look it up. LMB and peacocks are caught there.

Not familiar with that area but i will say throw something fast.  x-raps are a very popular choice as far as baits go.  Daylight hours like snook said is a good suggestion as well.  I would think most bodies of water in that area will produce peacocks.  You just need to cover a lot of it to find them. Good luck

Is aero jet canal open again?  Last time I checked which was 6 months ago it was closed off for construction.  I was impossible to get to for bank fishing

theres a little lake on 152nd and speedway blvd (I think 137th) that has a nice ledge all the way around, and a couple more lakes by the racetrack on palm

Homestead is loaded with Pcock bass. There everywhere. Aero jet Can be walked or bicycled on the north west side of canal.

I am brand new to fishing, I needed a new hobby to do while I'm traveling for work, golf was getting to expensive lol. Any ways I'm in homestead right now for the next week or so and I saw this browsing google. I tried going to the Aerojet but couldn't figure out how to get on the north side where you could walk and fish the bank. The only exit I saw that might lead there said official use only. I tried fishing by the boat ramo but only made it about 10 min before getting attacked about horse flies. I'd love to try to get out there again before I leave if anyone has any instruction on how to get to the north side. Thanks.
