Bws On Lake Tenkiller Brrrrrrrrr

Featured Replies

Well for my 2nd outing as a co-angler this time on the BWS, it was a cold one!

I will say this after fishing the BFL, Bassmasters could learn a thing or two from FLW. Sending out Text messages with partner names, times, and phone number is great idea! Being able to pre-register via email is handy. And i still can't find the full results on the ABA website.

Also having more than 30 weigh-in bags for 284 people would have been nice as well.

There was 142 boats, weather in the morning low 40's and the high was only in the high 40's. it felt like winter again in OK. Cloudy, misty, and just cold on that water. I had my layers on and was still a little cold. Luckily the gloves i had bought that were finger tip less really paid off. My hands stayed toasty and i could still feel my baitcaster.

Caught my first fish about 9am on the A-Rig weighed about 3 pounds and i thought ohhhh man, maybe i'm going to find these guys. Well it wasn't until about 1pm when i caught my next fish an under length smallie on a caffeine shad. Then i finished out the last 30 mins with the A-Rig and about 5 mins before time to go in i caught a Kentucky that weighed probably a little less than 1 1/2lbs.

I was pretty excited to get to weigh in some fish. I came in 58th on the co-angler side with 4.44 pounds got to walk up on stage and held up my 3 pounder and my wife took a pic which is on the camera or i'd be posting it here. The leader had 13.xx pounds on the co-angler side which is only a 3 fish limit with BWS, and the boater had 21.xx pounds.

I am having a blast and cant wait until the next one. Getting to weigh-in just made me want it more!

You should probably own your own weigh in bag. They have extras more likely than not for those who have theirs break or something.

This weather sucks.

When are you going to fish your boat or did you buy it to look at it :)

Bassmasters and FLW you have to use their official weigh-in bags no exceptions.

ha i know, i had already pre-registered for these two events over the winter. My first event in my new ride will be April 20th with Lake Country Anglers on Hudson Lake. And some pre-fishing before that.

Thinking about trying some weekly jackpots as well, the wife has been itching to go fish, she called me this morning wanting to know about the jackpot on Lake Ft. Gibson she is wanting to fish it with me! but its going to be cold and i dont want to ruin her but she said doesn't matter is wanting to go. So unless something happens i'll be fishing my first jackpot with my wife, my luck she will out fish me! ha

Another one under your belt trapperJ! Comgrats on putting some fish on the scale. How did your boater do?

Awesome man!  It is always nice to get that monkey off your back and weigh some fish!

Thanks guys!

My boater didn't fair to well, he caught one little large mouth that just barely exceeded the limit length. He had two other but they were under.

Congrats, Trapper!

BASS does use text messaging for pairings in the Opens - they started last year and it is much more efficient.

On-line registration is also used for the Opens.

You may want to check into the Central Opens next year-I think you would like it.(assuming you could take the time off of work - which is always a consideration).
