Jackson County Tournaments - April 7 And 8, 2013

Featured Replies

The last spring Sunday tournament at Lake Jacomo was held April 7.  Thirteen boats came out for what turned out to be a fantastic fishing day.  Water temperatures were in the upper 40's to low 50's depending on location.

Six - four fish limits were weighed in.  Dave Wagner and Kerry Moore won with a 4 - fish limit at 15.48 lbs.

Joe Inda had big bass at 6.10 lbs.

I did not find out what Dave and Kerry were throwing, but based on conversations with other anglers, the fish were hitting almost anything if you got in front of one.

Next Jacomo tournament is Wednesday night from 600P to 900P.  Entry fee $40.00

The first Monday night tournament on April 8 drew only three boats due the forecast of thunderstorms.  The weather held off, and yours truly managed to get in front of some fish.  I had a limit of 2 fish at 7.4 lbs., with big bass at 3.9.  Both fish came out of the same lay down.  They DID NOT hit a jerk bait.  I think that bite is about to end.

Next tournament is Monday, April 15 from 600P to 900P.  Entry fee $30.00.  We run the Monday night tournaments with a two fish limit.  This allows an angler to fish alone if he, or she, wishes.  It also allows anglers with less experience on Jacomo to have a fair chance against the regular Jacomo sticks.  It's a fairly low key tournament.  Good place to get some tournament experience close to home with a minimal cost.

Come out and join us.  We have a lot fun on Mondays.

Sounds like your jig bite finally happened.  Not sure what the point of a 3 boat tournament is.

Well, $90 is better than a sharp stick in the eye, but I was disappointed with the draw.  The last two years we usually have 8 - 10 boats and this makes nice tournament.  The other Jacomo guys had there last day tournament on Sunday, so I'm sure this kept a few away.

I've commited to run them so I'm always there, plus a couple other die hards.  All these tournaments will pick up if it ever warms up.
